Shirley Renfroe
6th Grade
I am beginning my 26th year at ACA. God gave me the gift of teaching, so I am most fulfilled doing just that. I was born in Chicago, Illinois. We moved to Alabama when I was a teenager. I am a 1986 graduate of the University of Alabama with a BS in Elementary Education.
My husband, Jimmy is my soul-mate and in October, we will celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. We have been blessed with three beautiful, talented daughters with hearts that love God. They are all graduates of ACA.
Shelly: currently in college, coaches middle school volleyball at ACA, has two beautiful sons (who are geniuses). Both boys are at ACA.
Hunter will be in the 3rd grade and Noah will be in K-5. Her husband Wally is pretty close to perfect.
Robin: beginning her 4th year teaching high school history and is ACA's head volleyball coach.
Brittnay: beginning her 2nd year at Faulkner University in Montgomery.
I am happy that that I teach American History, Bible and art. I am obsessed with Abraham Lincoln and I sing to my students, even though that is not my gift ....but I sing anyway because it helps them learn.
Other than teaching, some of my favorite things to do are:
-Laugh with my family (or anybody for that matter)
-Read to my grandsons
-Read to myself (sometimes aloud, but most of the time silently)
-Watch Food Network and Fox News
-Cook (when I'm not rushed, which is only in the summer time)
-Go to Church of the Highlands
-Go to Starbucks with my friends
-Exercise (Not really one of my favorites, but I do it so I can enjoy
my favorites)
More of my favorites: Authors- John Eldridge, Max Lucado, Francine
Rivers, Brock and Bodie Thoene, and CS Lewis.
Book- "The Shack."
Movie-"It's a Wonderful Life."
Bible Verse-Romans 5:5
I am thankful for God's favor and His abundant blessings in my life.
