Letter from the Headmaster

Dear Parent,

I want to take a moment and thank you for your interest in the education of your child. This is without a doubt one of the most important decisions your family will make. Our job at American Christian Academy is to assist parents with the education of their children. We believe that the primary responsibility rests with the parents and we serve as the junior partner in this endeavor.

We take our responsibility seriously. We want all of our students well prepared for college. We want all of our students even better prepared for life. This entails training in the decision making process. Students will be required to make choices throughout their entire life. And to make the right choices, students must be taught the moral basis of right and wrong. We utilize the Bible as this basis for right and wrong. I have always said that if a student graduates from our school, goes on to Harvard to earn an MBA, gets a high paying job and embezzles from his company then we have not been successful.

Our students do well academically. Their Stanford Achievement Scores are consistently one to three grade levels above the national average. Our scholar bowl teams, math teams, and spelling bee winners do extremely well in competition with much larger schools. Our graduates have been accepted at Georgia Institute of Technology, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, West Point Military Academy, The United States Air Force Academy, Harvard, The Sorbonne in Paris, UAB Dental School, Southern Wesleyan University, University of South Alabama and other fine schools around the country.  Over 95% of our graduates go on to college.

As a parent, I am so thankful for the solid academic education my three sons and daughter received at ACA. Two of my sons were accepted at the U.S. Air Force Academy where the oldest graduated as the number one student militarily. He has completed his Masters in Paris and has gone on to become an F-16 pilot. My second son graduated as the number one student in Industrial Engineering at The University of Alabama. These high honors are directly related to the training they received in our high school. My third son graduated in the top 10% of the Air Force Academy and finished his Master’s in Paris. He is teaching Bible and Economics here at ACA this year. My daughter graduated from the University of Alabama and now works for ACA.  ACA did an excellent job of preparing my children for the academic future and more importantly ACA helped shape their spiritual lives in a way that makes parents proud.

We are sending you this invitation to complete an application to join our family. Due to the size of our student body, we have become very selective in the type of students we admit. If your child qualifies for admission, I can assure you that you will be reaping rewards for years to come.

If you are interested in applying, I urge you to start the process now as there are several steps to a student being admitted to American Christian Academy. All necessary forms are available from the Admissions Coordinator, Nancy Hastings, as well as a checklist of additional items needed to process a new student application.

An entrance exam is required for those entering  2–12 grades. Testing will consist of reading and math. Test dates are available by contacting Nancy Hastings. It is your responsibility to call the school and set up a test date for your child.

If I can help in any way or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. My number is (205) 553-5963, ext. 20.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dan Carden
