Second Grade is full of exciting growth in all subject areas for our students. Students apply Old Testament and New Testament principles to their personal lives through the study of Bible Heroes. In language arts, students practice reading fluency through the learning of phonetic spelling patterns. Students also write sentences and paragraphs using correct parts of speech, punctuation, and capitalization. We use a variety of manipulatives to practice math concepts such as place value, geometry, counting money, and telling time. We also learn to add and subtract with regrouping. In Science and Social Studies, we learn about our world and the history of America through a biblical worldview. Students love learning to write in cursive during the second semester of school. Second grade is an exciting time to grow spiritually, academically, and socially.
