Elementary Accelerated Reading
Accelerated Reading begins in 1st grade at ACA and is continued until 8th grade for most students. Each grade is required to earn a different amount of points. AR points do not start "rolling over" into the following term until 3rd grade, however, AR points do NOT roll over into the next school year for any grade. Please see each grade level's information below. You may contact your child's reading teacher if your child is in elementary school, or all parents may contact Mrs. Sprayberry for any AR or Library related questions.
1st — 5th grade Students
*Elementary Students’ AR grade is averaged into their Reading Grade each term.
1st and 2nd Grade Students
Points do NOT roll over to the next term for these students
1st grade – 3 points each term
1st 9-week Term — 3 points
(*In 1st grade, 1st term are practice points only)
2nd 9-week Term — 3 points — 6 points total
3rd 9-week Term — 3 points — 9 points total
4th 9-week Term — 3 points — 12 points total
2nd grade – 8 points each term
1st 9-week Term — 8 points
2nd 9-week Term — 8 points — 16 points total
3rd 9-week Term — 8 points — 24 points total
4th 9-week Term — 8 points — 32 points total
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students
Points DO roll over to the next term for these students
3rd grade – 15 points each term
1st 9-week Term — 15 points
2nd 9-week Term — 30 points
3rd 9-week Term — 45 points
4th 9-week Term — 65 points
(*4th term — 5 extra points are required)
4th grade – 23 points each term
1st 9-week Term — 23 points
2nd 9-week Term — 46 points
3rd 9-week Term — 69 points
4th 9-week Term — 92 points
5th grade – 30 points each term
1st 9-week Term — 30 points
2nd 9-week Term — 60 points
3rd 9-week Term — 90 points
4th 9-week Term — 120 points
